North Caucasian Railway (a part of Russian Railways, RZD) spent more than 700 million rubles on construction of the double-track inserted section on the route Shepsi – Vodopadniy (the Krasnodar Territory) in January-September 2009. The construction project of the railway route Shepsi – Vodopadniy is being implemented under the program “Railway Infrastructure Development of Tuapse – Adler”. The project will enable the companies to substantially increase the volume of cargo transportation and passenger service with the preparation for the Olympic Games 2014. The volume of investments into the project totaled 2.7 billion rubles in the eight-month period of 2009. (USD1 = RUB29.0184)
