RZD Loadings down 18.7% in 10 Months 2009

Loadings of Russian Railways (RZD) totaled 916.8 million tons in the ten-month period of 2009 (-18.7%). The company shipped coal – 224.729 million tons (-8.5%), coke – 8.5 million tons (-22.7%), oil and oil products – 187.517 million tons (-3.1%), iron and manganese ore – 78.837 million tons (-14.5%), ferrous metals – 52.934 million tons (-24.6%), scrap iron – 13.750 million tons (-40.8%), chemical and mineral fertilizers – 31.952 million tons (-14.9%), cement – 25.477 million tons (-21.1%), timber – 33.477 million tons (-30.3%), grain and milling products – 18.629 million tons (-37.2%). In October 2009 the company shipped 100.2 million tons (-10.8%). In October 2009 average daily loadings increased: coal – 1%, ferrous metals – 0.2%, scrap iron – 8.2%, grain and milling products – 0.2%. In October 2009 loadings of coal fell 6.4% compared to October 2008, oil and oil products – 6%, cement – 0.9%, grain and milling products – 32.7%, construction cargo – 34%, coke loadings increased 12.5%, iron and manganese ore – 1.4%, ferrous metals – 9.3%, scrap iron – 68.2%, chemical and mineral fertilizers – 5.2%, Cargo traffic totaled 1533 billion t-km in 10 months of 2009 (-15.1%). Cargo traffic totaled 166.1 billion t-km (-7.3%) in October 2009.
